Updates

Happy Tuesday everyone! I know that most of the U.S. is experiencing a devastating heat wave, but here in the Pacific Northwest it’s only 48 degrees. So, I think it’s appropriate for a…

Fireside chat. That’s what that means.

Anyway…

I know I’ve been terrible at updates for WEEKS. And I have all kinds of excuses. My job’s been really busy, we’ve been travelling a lot, my husband is on summer break (he’s a teacher) so he’s been hogging all of the time I usually reserve for writing… but I know that you all probably aren’t interested in excuses. You just want to know where your update is.

The unfortunate answer is… I’m working on it. I don’t know what it is about Final that’s making it impossible for me to find my groove and get into a routine, but I’ve been on the struggle bus for a few weeks now.

There are so many things I’m excited for in this story, so I don’t want you to think my interest isn’t there and I’m going to quit. I’m not. In fact, when I sat down and plotted this book out from start to finish, I nearly cried with how well this ending wraps up all four books and finally (haha, get it?) concludes Christian and Ana’s story. Calliope though… there might be more. There’s hardship, and drama, and angst ahead, which you all know I need to live, but the HEA I promised from day one is still fully intact. I want to get there. I’m excited to get there. I’m not going to ghost you all and disappear, promise.

This summer, between family visits, camping trips, vacations, weddings, and standing in line for Seahawks tickets, I might just need some extra time between posts.

That being said, I’m going to actually take the rest of this week to finish chapter 12, because it’s an important chapter and I don’t want to rush it. And because I want to get back on my Monday schedule. How I thought I’d be able to get back on a Monday schedule when I’ve been posting on Wednesdays because I already couldn’t get it finished in a week is BEYOND me.

But I want to offer a heartfelt and sincere thank you to all of you who have followed me through this long journey we’ve gone on together. Honestly, I really do feel terrible when I don’t have something to post on Mondays because I feel like I owe it to you with how much you guys have been there for me. Without your constant love and support, I probably would have abandoned ship on this story years ago. And now, not only do I have three completed books under my belt that I can look back on and feel proud of, I actually met with some people in LA a few weeks ago to begin work on copyrights and purchasing ISBNs and meeting with cover art artists for my own original novel. That wouldn’t have happened without all of you, so THANK YOU. Truly. For everything I’ve given you these past three years, you’ve given me so much more. And for that I’ll never be able to fully express my gratitude.

Get it? Hahahahaha

(Best Barbra impression: Stick around for the jokes)

So, while I start plugging away at chapter 12 again, I hope you’ll all be like me and will be wishingmrgreywashere.

  1. You take all the time you need, enjoy your summer and post as frequently or infrequently as you want. I’m a long time reader, first time poster but I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you and your writing. I’m here for wherever the story goes or however long it takes

  2. Wow I can’t believe it’s been three years of your writing. Where has the time gone. I’m not going to say I won’t miss your chapter this week bc that’s a to. Of croc! But I do understand it’s summer and u r busy too. I would rather read something great and worth the work than something fast and unenjoyable. Take your time and I will wait patiently until my mr Grey does come around again! Enjoy this week with the family and good weather bc I’m scorching in NYC.

  3. Dear Generous writer,
You may not know me ‘coz I’m one of those who lurks around
waiting for the next chapter, that piece of paradise all too far for me. Me with two adolescents and their ever changing moods. Me with a 24/7 job. Me with frustrating courses for a law degree because at 57 years old, I say why not?
    Right?
So, please do not ever apologise for not posting on time as was promised. I understand you have an alternate life apart from being a wonderful story teller. I understand when times are conflicting and moments are few to sit down and write.
Just know that these chapters helped me go through the terrible times. They were the ones I look forward to at night, after a long stressfull, I-wish-I’d stayed-in-bed-today, what-a-crappy day. They accompanied me after battling through exams, never ending readings on law and more law, torts, civil codes, etc..
So please know how grateful I am to you for letting me (and the rest of the people here) to live through your writing the exciting and angst full story of Ana and Christian.
And yes, the HEA. Thank you for that, too!

Anyway, have a wonderful summer, go have fun with your family and here’s wishing you all the luck in publishing your books.

    Thank you, again.

  4. Everyone needs a break even you, even your followers and summer is usually the time, so don’t feel guilty or obligated to post diligently every Monday or even every week. So enjoy the family while you can and we will still be here. Thank you very much for sharing your talent with us.

  5. You are so kind to update us. It’s bit necessary but still very kind.

All I know is, you promised no cheating and that’s all I care about, so I am happy to wait and slog through painful angst and drama (that’s life) and celebrate the light, sexy fun stuff, until the end.

    Thanks so much! ❤️ you!

P.S. I’m going to a pre-season Vikings – Seahawks game on 8/24 (I’m from MN) and will be (secretly) rooting for the ‘Hawks. 😄

  7. Yes, Tara it is brutally hot here in NY, but I’ll take this over the harsh cold, snowy winter we had any day. We need you and your story, but hubby needs you more. Enjoy your time together over his summer break. We will be here waiting until you can post a chapter to your satisfaction. I can’t believe how fast three years have gone! Love ya.

  13. Congratulations on your original novel!!!! (You WILL, of course, be providing all of us with details so that we can get the book, right? I mean, I don’t want to have to get that mob crowd with pitchforks in hand to come after you just to get the book. . . .)

As to the updates, well, as good an author as you are, you KNOW we are willing to wait for the quality work you always give us. I, too, count myself in as part of the crowd that really looks forward to your updates to get me through the work week. (And hey, I hope that lady that is getting her law degree enjoys hers more than I do mine! The stress of fighting for custody of other people’s children REALLY makes me appreciate being able to read love stories like your Ana and Christian’s! It is wonderful to at least READ about parents working together to love and encourage their young ones rather than tear them apart in their hate-war against the other parent.)

And seriously, your chapters really ARE the highlight of my week. More than any possible tv show or book or anything else. And they are ALWAYS worth any wait. You are the only internet author that I know who has FAITHFULLY posted so regularly AND produced such high-quality work. I have no doubt that you will be a successful published author. You already ARE in my book!

(And, of course, I look forward to the CALLIOPE books that you will produce as well!!!! After all, really don’t want to get that mob crowd out after you with the pitchforks, torches, etc. for the Calliope book you KNOW you feel COMPELLED to write! HeeHeeHee!)

    1. And 48 DEGREES????? Are you kidding me??? We are pushing 100 degrees here, with the humidity being through the roof. I was taking the time to explain the juvenile court process to someone outside of the courthouse here today, and I about MELTED!!!!

      1. Excellent!!! I keep hoping Ana finds a message left for her on her phone from Ros telling her that they have enjoyed seeing Christian in the office pushing Calliope to run the place, but that she thought it was a bit premature to let Calliope into the publishing department, as Calliope is more interested in eating and drooling over the books rather than reading them! (And I can really see Christian stealing Calliope from daycare on multiple occasions, all on the supposed pretense that he wants to “comfort” Ana with how well Calliope is doing at the GEH headquarters!)

(And Calliope eagerly pushing all the elevator buttons last chapter was adorable, by the by. Especially given her parents’ woes at having to stop at every floor along the way. Calliope sure is quick to find mischief, something which will undoubtedly haunt her parents as she grows!)

  14. Ahhhhhhhhhh, I just needed to find my “fireside chat” to see where Chapter 12 was hiding.

I am so glad that you let us know that this book will continue, but perhaps at a different pace.
I’m in it for the long haul. So no worries, I will reading and commenting as you post the chapters.

    July heat here too!
