Chapter 38 Preview

Excerpt from dinner between Christian and Ana:

“So, what do you want to do on Saturday?”

He raises an eyebrow and gives me sly smile. “You want a play by play of everything I’ve been fantasizing about over the last six weeks?”

“Not that part of Saturday. Your mother called me this morning, she wanted to know what you want to do for your birthday.”

“My birthday?”

“Yes, Saturday is also your birthday.”

“Really?” He takes his phone out of his pocket and flips through the apps, presumably for his calendar, and then lets out a surprised, huh, before leaning back in his chair and eventually smiling. “I guess that really changes what I’m allowed to ask for…”

I shake my head, but don’t bother hiding my smile. “I’m looking more for family oriented requests. You know, activities your parents and little sister can be present for.”

He frowns. “I don’t really want to make a big deal out of it. We have more important things to worry about right now.”

“I disagree. I think we need normalcy and things to celebrate now more than ever. This year’s been tough, but it’s also been really great and we keep forgetting that. We’re engaged, we’ve had a baby, we’re only a few weeks away from moving into the house that’s going to be our daughter’s family home… there’s so much I’m grateful for and all of that is because of you. I want to celebrate you, Christian. We all do.”

He takes a deep breath, considering the sincerity of my words for a moment, and then nods. “Okay. We’ll take the yacht out for the weekend and bring the whole family along. We’ll all be together and we won’t need as much security so Taylor can stay behind to continue his investigation.”

See you Monday!

  1. Thank You! Can’t wait to read the rest. But is dropping security the best idea? Hmmm? I wonder what his Bday request from Ana would be? 🍋🍋🍋 Looks like a good night for Grace to babysit 😉

  2. Yikes! Stuck on a boat with your whole family and a newborn baby and a randy husband for a whole weekend sounds like hell to me. And without your top security man? You’ll be a bunch of sitting ducks all together out on there on the water. It’s Ana whose brain is supposed to be addled with baby hormones, not yours, Christian! Can’t wait for the whole chapter. *frets*

  3. I so wish that they’ll be able to celebrate Christian’s birthday in peace and harmony without the awful people disturbing them, this conspiracy ruffians have spoiled so many of their celebrations. If Taylor isn’t going with them I hope they take Sawyer and other TRUSTED CPO’s, Mr. Villain and his team of brutes are still out there. Can’t wait for Monday to read the rest, thank you Tara.

  4. Well, that lets us know that Christian and Ana make it home from the prison okay AND that nothing more seems to have happened in SIX WEEKS.

So Taylor will have had 6 weeks to have been conducting the background checks that Christian asked for, and it doesn’t appear to have produced results YET. HHhhhhmmmmm.

Wonder why Mr. Conspiracy Head has kept a low profile for this amount of time? (I admit that I at least figured that the background checks would reveal a dead body or two, but Ana and Christian certainly seem too happy if something like that had occurred to someone that they knew.)

And I think putting THE WHOLE FAMILY out on the open water WITHOUT their complete security detail is a DEFINITE MISTAKE. I mean, if you are attacked, there is not really anywhere to go BUT the water (and little Callie certainly can’t swim yet!). Would seem easy enough to disable the boat to keep it from going anywhere and then set it on fire or any NUMBER of possible scenarios.

Obviously, Christian and Ana and the Grey family can’t quit living their lives. I would have HOPED that they would have found out SOMETHING within 6 weeks time, but nothing seems to have occurred. REALLY makes you wonder what Mr. Conspiracy Head is waiting for.

(Of course, some things may have happened, such as Elena turning up dead, and no one from the Grey camp would be mourning THAT.)

EAGERLY waiting for the chapter on MONDAY!!!! Thanks for the preview Tara! (By the by, do you know about what TIME you will be posting the chapter on Monday? I only ask because since Monday is supposed to be a holiday here, I was originally not supposed to be at the office. However, I have work to do that I am actually scheduling around when the next chapter comes out so I will have myself a VERY nice treat to look forward to in exchange for having to work on the holiday!!!! So if you have a planned time to release the next chapter, I will make SURE to schedule my work break then!)

    1. Taylor can’t come on the yacht because he’s busy hatching evil plans as the Conspiracy Head. Heh Heh. Just messin’ with ya. 😉

  5. I am literally dying here waiting, I haven’t been this excited for a for a story to update. But question time… Why would Taylor or no security be with them at all, I thought Christian just ordered Taylor to corfdinate an audit and cross checking all of Elena’s visitors with his usual duties as Christian’s Head of Security? In this instance Christian’s paranoia is warranted because they haveliterally been outsmarted at this point by whoever is behind this. Wouldn’t it be business as usual for Christian and Ana regardless particularly as they now have a baby, if not tighter since the revelation of Elena knowing the identity of the mystery evil man and the unease that everyone felt from the guard at the prison? As much as Carla hideousness in the hospital I wonder if her letters may have some clue as to why she is bitchier then usual, hell I have even wondered if it was Bob. I just re-read the last book and out of trying to figure out who it could be am about re-read this book from the beginning as we wait for the next instalment. Even with the obvious suspects, I feel there is an obvious clue to who it is and it’s staring at me in the face and I just can’t see it yet. it may not be obvious at first but will all make sense one you do the big reveal. Actually this mystery kinda reminds me of Bruce Willis in the 6th sense, I swear I didn’t see that plot line coming which was nice for a change because usuallly in modern tales the villain or the reason behind something is always so predictable. This is like the wait for the next instalment game of thrones! I love this story!

  7. I don’t think sailing is the best recreation for a newborn baby, but then she flew crosscountry already, so I guess she can be exposed anywhere. They have other security that can go with them in the boat besides Taylor, if he is tied up with investigation, because it would not be wise even to drive to the dock by themselves unless they starts carrying their own weapons for protection. Just wait for Monday for the next update. Thank you, Tara.

  8. Are we not getting a update today? You normally update between 2 and 4 in the afternoon UK time and it’s now 7 in the evening. Could you please let us know one way or another. I know it’s a Bank holiday in the U.S.
